water is essential for every living creature on this planet.
And water of course does a lot for our body. They have many functions. Among other things, they help digestion, and help keep our body fit.
But how many glasses of water should we drink a day?
Well, it varies from person to person. It is common for people to drink when they are thirsty – but by then, you may already be dehydrated. Here are 9 signs that you are not drinking enough water.
1. The color of your urine
If your urine is darker than usual – yellow, or even orange-brown, you should drink water immediately.
2. The number of times you go to the bathroom
Do you go to the bathroom twice or less during the day? Once every few hours? If so, then it would be a good idea to start drinking more water. You are usually supposed to pee 6-7 times a day, depending on how much you drink, and
if many hours pass without you being in the bathroom, it can affect your kidneys – thus harming the body from cleansing itself.
3. Dry skin
Dry skin can be associated with not drinking water. Researchers continue to try to come up with an explanation for dry skin, but many believe it is related to the content of water and fat in the skin.
4. Feeling hungry
Our body can get hungry due to lack of water. Sometimes, even if you just ate, you can still be hungry. This is your body’s way of telling you to drink more water.
5. Exhaustion
People who don’t drink enough water usually feel exhausted and tired during the day. This is because your body ‘borrows’ water from the blood, which causes a decrease in the level of oxygen in the body.
6. Headaches
Headaches can be a sign that you are not drinking enough water. To find out if this is the specific problem, look at what happens if you move quickly or bend over to lift something. Does the headache worsen? If so, try drinking water.
7. You get muscle spasms
You know those super painful muscle spasms that wake you up in the middle of the night after your whole calf seizes up? They typically occur when a muscle is overused, and exercising when your fluid levels are low can spark one.
8. Nervousness
When your body lacks fluids, you can become nervous. In this case, drink a glass of water and symptoms should calm down.
9. Constipation
Yes, your gut also needs water to work. If the body does not get enough fluids, it obtains them from the feces to compensate for the condition. And that leads to constipation.
