The Anti Corruption Commission -ACC- says the Patriotic Front government crippled operations of the commission by withholding resources meant for its activities.
ACC Director General GILBERT PHIRI says the Commission is not on a witch-hunt but has just been given a favourable environment to operate freely without political interference.
And Mr. PHIRI says the commission will not protect any officer that is abusing public office for personal gain.
Meanwhile, ACC Board Chairperson MUSA MWENYE says the commission has seen an increase in the number of people reporting corruption causes.
He says this is because of the revived confidence in the ACC by the public.
Speaking when the ACC Board of Directors called on North Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary NAOMI TETAMASHIMBA, Mr. MWENYE said in the past years, the public lost confidence in the commission owing to lack of political will to fund the institution.
