Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTTI has directed Community Development Minister DOREEN MWAMBA to deliver a Ministerial statement on the rise in cases of Sodomy across the country.
Ms. MUTTI says the issue requires attention and has directed that Ms. MWAMBA delivers her statement next week Thursday.
She says the house recently enacted the Child Code and it is the responsibility of Members of Parliament to protect adolescents.
Ms. MUTTI said the issue of Sodomy touches on the lives of children and may result in death or mental problems leading to suicide.
She was responding to Petauke Central Member of Parliament EMMANUEL BANDA who wanted to find out if the Ministry of Community Development was addressing the issue with the urgency it deserves.
