Osun Tribunal: Finally, Governor Adeleke Seeks Justice at Appellate Court

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has reached out to the court of appeal to contest the judgement of the election tribunal that annulled his victory in the Saturday, July 16, 2022 gubernatorial polls in the state.

As reported by the Punch Newspaper, Governor Adeleke through his attorney filed for the appeal on Thursday, February 9 before the Akure Division of the Court of Appeal.

Osun Tribunal: 27 lawyers to defend Gov Adeleke at appeal

The application was signed by his lead counsel, Dr Onyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN), on behalf of 26 other lawyers.

According to reports, Governor Adeleke and his legal team outlined 31 grounds faulting the decision of the Justice Tertsea Kume-led election tribunal panel.

The application noted that the tribunal treated the matter with bias by making fun of his love for dancing and also without putting into consideration the totality of the case.

He also said reports of entries on BVAS machines used for accreditation during the poll was superior and unique, adding that the panel should not have granted the prayers sought by the petitioners.

Recall that Legit.ng reported that the Election Tribunal in Osun state has removed Senator Ademola Adeleke as the governor of the state.

The decision of the court was contained in a judgement delivered on Friday, January 27, at the tribunal.

The court also ordered the INEC to withdraw the certificate of return earlier given to Adeleke and hand it to Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Senator Ademola Adeleke was sworn-in as the new Governor of Osun State on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

The PDP chieftain took over the office from Gboyega Oyetola, APC-led administration after emerging victorious at the Saturday, July 16 governorship election.

Adeleke became the governor after being administered oaths of allegiance and office by the State’s President of the Customary Court before a mammoth crowd of PDP members, supporters and guests from all walks of life.
