
Monica Muthoni who was born and raised in Nairobi was a mother of one child, when she met her husband. She was raised in a christian family and when she met a man willing to marry her, her family was very excited.
They dated for a while and he asked her parents for her hands in marriage. They moved together as husband and wife. Things went well on well until when he realized that she wasn’t getting pregnant. He took her to hospital but the doctors said that she was healthy to have a baby.
This strained their relationship a d her husband was determined to get her Pregnant therefore he forcefully slept with her at anytime of the day and night. She barely slept nor had any rest.This went on for months and she could barely hold back her urine.
Monica says that she didn’t get pregnant and this angered her husband that’s when he became abusive. He would forcefully sleep with her anywhere in the house. He threw her on the ground countless times that affected her spinal cord.
One day he came home and demanded for his conjugal rights. She refused became the previous night her had forcefully Slept with her countless times and she was in pain and tired at the same time. When she refused he grabbed her and threw her or the table where her spinal cord was injured.
She cried in pain but her husband kept on doing what he wanted. After the incidence she could hardly feel her legs and he decoded to rush her to hospital. After several tests she was informed that her spinal cord had been injured and she went through surgery.
“My husband has ruined my life because I was confined to a wheelchair for months.” Monica says.
Monica says that she couldn’t walk and she decided to leave her husband and went back home. She didn’t walk for Months a d she was confined to a wheelchair. She went through therapy until when she gained her ability to walk.
She vowed never to get married again and she is advising women, to leave abusive marriages and abusive spouses.
