Kenya’s William Ruto has been sworn in with 20 Heads of State attending the event, reports Asa Manda.
Information reaching Zambian Eye is that outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially handed over power to Ruto who served as his Deputy.
President Kenyatta however did not support Ruto whom he was in an alliance with but backed long time opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The Supreme Court of that country dismissed Odinga’s election results petition last week paving to today’s event.
Twenty Heads of State are part of the innuaguration ceremony taking place in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
Zambian leader President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) is not attending the event. He is camped on the Copperbelt province where he is campaigning in by-elections.
By press time, it was not clear who was representing the Zambian government but the opposition PF had sent three of it’s senior members to represent the party and it’s leader Edgar Lungu.
