HH SCORES BIG BY REINSTATING FIRED CIVIL SERVANTS – OBSERVES ACTIVIST.
Development Activist Chanda Mulenga has observed that President Hakainde Hichilema has scored another success in his promise to reinstate civil servants that were fired on flimsy grounds.
Mr. Mulenga, a Former UPND National Youth Chairman for Mobilisation, was happy to note that the Appeals Committee had recommended the reinstatement of 154 public service employees.
He observed that 154 must work professionally to avoid disappointing President Hichilema because they were chosen out of the 1, 868 cases considered and concluded by the Committee on the review of appeals from Public Service Employees retired in national interest or separated on unfair grounds.
Mr. Mulenga called on other appellants to be patient as more cases were undergoing scrutinization.
Recently, Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kanfwa announced that the Committee received 2,126 cases which included 1,246 from the mainstream public service, 167 from Local Authorities and 713 from grant aided institutions and statutory bodies.
Mr. Kangwa said of the cases considered and concluded, the Committee referred 323 cases to the respective institutions for administrative resolve while cases for 130 appellants were still in court hence could not considered.
He added that 40 cases were still under consideration of relevant service commissions and 966 were dismissed in accordance with disciplinary procedures.
