The European Union -EU- will give additional 30-million Euro grant to towards works on the Kariba Dam plunge pool reshaping project.
EU Head of Delegation to Zambia, JACEK JANKOWSKI says the grant, which will be disbursed this December, is in addition to the 294 million Euros already released for the works.
Mr JANKOWSKI was speaking today in Siavonga District, after a tour of the Kariba Dam rehabilitation project, in the company of Zambian and Zimbabwean ministerial delegations.
And speaking during the same event, Finance Minister, SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE called for prudent utilisation of the funds.
Meanwhile, Zimbabweβs Minister of Energy and Power Development, ZHEMU SODA Β committed his country to completing the remaining rehabilitation works at Kariba Dam, within the revised time-frame.
And African Development Bank Country Manager, RAUBIL OLANIYI said the bank, together with Sweden and World Bank are committed to supporting the project.
The Kariba Dam has been under rehabilitation since 2017, in works to enhance water plunge pool and the spillway gates.
