The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has officially postponed the Kabushi and Kwacha constituency by-elections which were set for Thursday September 15, 2022.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager, PATRICIA LUHANGA has confirmed the development in a Statement to ZNBC News today.
Ms. LUHANGA said the postponement follows the High Court ruling delivered yesterday that suspended the by-elections in the two constituencies.
The High Court stayed the holding of elections in Kwacha and Kabushi pending the determination of the petition where two former MPs in the constituencies have challenged the decision by the ECZ to reject their nomination papers.
In their affidavit Former KWACHA Member of Parliament JOSEPH MALANJI and his KABUSHI counterpart BOWMAN LUSAMBO claimed that they would suffer prejudice unless the parliamentary polls were suspended.
