ECZ IS FAILING TO MAKE IT’S OWN DECISIONS
… A very sad time for democracy- Antonio Mourinho Mwanza

PF Media Director Antonio Mwanza says democracy has failed to thrive under the New Dawn Administration.
Speaking during the “Interview Program” on Millennium Radio today, Mr Mwanza lamented how President Hakainde Hichilema openly boasting about “hammering” the Electoral Commission of Zambia on a pretext that they were PF.
“The Electoral Commission of Zambia, I feel sorry for them…..it is understaffed. The President fired the chairman, they forced out the Chief Electoral Officer, they fired the Deputy Chairperson,” he said.
“And this President went to the Copperbelt, had a rally and at the public rally he was even celebrating and saying have you seen how I have hammered ba ECZ? So I will continue hammering them. Tibachosa bonse niba PF.” He added .
Mr Mwanza said the people that remained at ECZ cannot make decisions.
And Mr Mwanza said it is not the duty of the ECZ to interpret the Constitution.
“So we have an Electoral Commission of Zambia that is constrained because the Policy makers are off…..kwasala bana kuja, they can’t make decisions. So I feel sorry for the ECZ that they had to do the role for the political party called UPND by trying to interpret the Constitution of Zambia,” he said.
“The role of the Electoral Commission of Zambia is to conduct elections and not to interpret the Constitution. The Constitution is interpreted by the Constitutional Court. They went ahead and banned Bowman Lusambo and Joe Malanji illegally. And we thank God that the Constitutional Court has ruled that it was illegal what the Electoral Commission of Zambia did.” He added .
Meanwhile, Mr Mwanza charged that the ECZ, using the Anti-Corruption Commission and Drug Enforcement Commission are summoning members of the public who are contesting elections in Kabushi and in Kwacha to intimidate them.
He said this is so because they fear that some of them might withdraw, “already I have seen somebody who has withdrawn. And according to precedence and according to the law is that when there is a withdraw, the Electoral Commission of Zambia must conduct fresh nominations.” He said .
He however urged ACC to stop being used government to fight the political wars for the UPND.
