Seven bodies of male persons have been discovered in a decomposed state in Kanyimbo Village in Nakonde District.

Police spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA has disclosed that the bodies are believed to be of persons between the ages of 28 and 45.

He says preliminary investigations indicate that a woman of Kanyimbo Village reported to the headman that she found a body of an unknown male adult whilst on her way to collect firewood today around 06:00 hours.

He said the headman organized people who discovered another body of a male person.

Mr. HAMOONGA said the headman reported that whilst in the bush, he received another report of four more bodies discovered within the same area.

He said Police officers rushed to the scene and conducted a thorough search in the bush and discovered one more body.

Meanwhile, Mr. HAMOONGA has disclosed that an inspection was conducted on the bodies and deep cuts and bruises on various parts of the bodies were noticed.

He says sharp instruments are believed to have been used in the act.

Further investigations revealed that the victims are believed to have been murdered elsewhere and dumped in Kanyimbo Village.

He says the victims’ nationality is yet to be established adding that Zambia Police Service officers in Nakonde together with their counterparts in Tanzania have launched investigations into the act.
